Another trip to the Doc's
feeling good
6 month checkup
but always look forward
with apprehension
I am after all
approach my use-by-date
maybe....but then we all are
None of us comes with
a warranty/guarantee
for X amount of years
I know that worry doesn't help
that worry won't change
what is to be and yet
In fact it might make
matters worse....and yet....

Some days when the "muse" doesn't come
and I sit here twiddling  my thumb
I'll search high and low for a rhyme
will even commit grammar crime
If stuck I will start flippin' a dime
I may even sprinkle some thyme
and then I remember oy vey
that's just really not your way
you poetry has  free-form lines
that almost never have rhymes
I'm trying to find an end
but before I ramble around the bend
with no end in sight
I'll just say....kaput....and be done

New Year
new "hills" to climb
or just the old ones
at my age sometimes
I long for flat ground
maybe a gentile slope
preferably slightly up hill
but it is what it is
If it is a steep uphill
I'll plod on
slowly but onward
If a steep downhill
it is what it is
you don't always
get to choose your path
you only get to choose
your response to it
