the sky was
slate grey
rain was light
but
persistent
the skies were
dark
long before
night fell
long before
the sun set
that was today
literally

but we all
have had
days like that
metaphorically
figuratively
those days
when  all is
grey
when the light
fails
when the sun sets
on our
souls

but both
literally
metaphorically
figuratively
we know
that a better
day
is coming
life is cyclic
the calm
which must
and usually does
follow the  storm
